Well, I woke up on Day 3 of the busiest week of the summer in our studio to discover that my site had been attacked and a vicious malware was wreaking havoc on the files and function, rendering it completely shut down. Thanks to my amazing web developer, Tiffany, of TiffanyJDesign.com, we are back in business for the moment. So without further ado, here are the highlights from Day 3 of our piano camp, To the Isle with Powell and His Dragons:

After learning about the 2 Black Keys on Piano Camp Day 1 and the White Key D on Piano Camp Day 2, today it was time to introduce the D-minor pentascale. Even the littlest ones picked up on it quickly and enjoyed singing up and down the pitches while playing on our full-size printed piano keyboards.

Dragon Yes or No! was a fun way for them to test their listening skills to see if they could identify the D-minor pentascale when it was played on the piano.

For today’s Dragon Training Exercise, each team’s dragon had a chance to demonstrate the D-minor pentascale.

One of our favorite activities of the week: rhythm cup-tapping choreographed to one of the epic soundtrack pieces for How to Train Your Dragon!

This older group got especially creative with how their dragons decided to demonstrate the D-minor pentascale!

Our Hear-It! time is such a delightful reprieve amidst all the high energy activity of the day. All the students enjoy listening to the musical selections while coloring the corresponding pictures.
