Day Two of piano camp is officially a wrap! We are traveling To the Isle with Powell and His Dragons this year and we sure are having an adventure! Here are highlights from today:

Our Welcome to Piano Camp song is always a fun way for the students to get to know each others’ names, practice keeping a steady beat, and have a little improv session as we get the day started.

We are keeping the same teams all week, which simplifies the logistics of our activity and game times quite a bit. Here’s the “Thunder Boulder” team rolling 2s on the die to work their way up the Ds on the piano keyboard.

One of the goals with each activity is to make sure that all the student stay fully engaged. This help prevent anyone from getting bored or distracted or having time to cause trouble (not that a group of twelve 4-7 year-olds is likely to get into any trouble…)

Today’s dragon training exercise involved cracking dinosaur eggs and looking for Ds. So fun!

Notice me on the side trying to avoid getting run over by these competitive girls racing for the bell after rolling their way on Ds to the top of their keyboard!

If you look closely, see if you can spot the dragon guest on one of the girls’ workbooks. Several students brought their own pet dragons to join us at piano camp today!

It’s a fun challenge to try to locate the instrument on the card in the bigger orchestra diagram so that we can access all the additional information in the engaging app for My First Orchestra Book!

All the stickers for Day 2 have been earned and everyone is on their way to becoming a certified dragon trainer!
