It’s Recital Time!

May 13, 2026 by natalie Leave a Comment

It’s hard to believe the end of the year for piano lessons is already here. It has been a fabulous year that culminated with our spring recital and cookout last weekend. Here are just a few snapshots from the occasion…

All the important elements that make the recital special: custom programs that correlate with our Cracking the Crystal Code practice incentive theme; MTNA Study Award Certificates that I give to each student when recognizing them for how many years of music study they’ve completed (I love having these!); Year-End Questionnaires for each student and parent that they complete and bring back for our Year-End Evaluations next week; the published Psalms Project books with each student’s contribution for this year.

With a little rearranging the downstairs piano studio and library area transform into a recital venue. Each of the students played a solo and an ensemble and also accompanied us while we sang their Psalms Project composition.

Creston and John loved playing Double Trouble by Brock Chart and decided to make a statement by donning sunglasses and looking extra cool for their performance of it!

As a grand finale we surprised the parents with a special cup-tapping ensemble we’ve been working on at group classes for the last few months. They loved playing some of Wendy Stevens’ Rhythm Cup Explorations worksheets throughout the year so much that I was inspired to specially choreograph this ensemble set to The Piano Guys‘ fabulous version of What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction. So much fun!

After the performances it was a gorgeous evening to hang out in the backyard and enjoy my husband’s famous hamburgers while visiting with each other. I am so blessed to have a wonderful studio of piano students and families!
