It’s that time of year again – time to clear off the studio wall and décor from last year’s practice incentive theme and make way for the new one. The new one, of course, is top secret right now until I announce it at our annual September Surprise! But if you’re looking for something new and motivating to use with your piano students this year, this is your chance to get The PUZZLEMAKER practice incentive theme package and a studio wall banner and motivational posters for free!

The downloadable package includes a 155-page student Assignment Book (including 60 Rhythm, Pitch, and Movement Pattern Pages, plus Listening Pages perfect for group classes!); teacher instructions; files to print all the studio decor (which you won’t need if you win!); display pictures; an image for a puzzle-themed recital program; and additional teaching suggestions and resources. This has been one of my students’ favorite themes so far. Whether they were 8 or 18, they loved collecting the puzzle pieces throughout the year, and they especially loved our Puzzle Party at the end of the year where everyone got together for an evening of snacks and putting together puzzles!

Every theme is also highly adaptable, so you can tweak it according to what you think will work best for your students. Check out the Testimonials page to hear what teachers have said about the other practice incentive themes. You can view sample pages of The PUZZLEMAKER theme in the Music Matters Blog store, and here’s a 10-minute video overview to give you a bit more of an idea of how this theme was designed to work.
If you’d like to be entered to win The PUZZLEMAKER practice incentive theme package plus the studio theme banner and a few motivational posters, just leave a comment below. One winner will be selected using a random number generator at 12:00 noon CST on Friday, August 1, 2025.

What a fabulous idea that has so many possibilities for extension activities, such as the Forrest Kinney Pattern Play series, and it sounds super motivating as well. I appreciate the intentionality of these learning resources.
