The Story Orchestra: The Nutcracker opens in the home of Clara as she and her parents and younger brother, Fritz, are decorating their Christmas tree. When her Uncle Drosselmeyer, the toymaker, arrives, she finds herself on a magical Christmas journey. He gives her lifelike dolls that start to dance and a nutcracker who ends up broken at the hands of Fritz. When Clara is sleepless later in the night, her concern for her nutcracker propels her back downstairs where she encounters a roomful of toys now come-to-life! She joins the adventure and ends up in the mesmerizing Land of Sweets. Young readers will no doubt recognize the ten iconic tunes from Tchaikovsky’s ballet and will enjoy reading the story that accompanies them. A delightful read!
