 Description:

This full color introduction to the piano is written for parents and children who are interested in learning to play the piano. This attractive guide is written by the composer of Bluey, Joff Bush, so it will be especially appealing to kids who are already familiar with this beloved canine. Pedagogically it is definitely not a substitute for an actual piano method, but it serves as a fun introduction to some basic knowledge of the piano – groups of two and three black keys, finger numbers, treble and bass clefs, quarter and half notes, and simple directional movements. It is a purely cognitive approach, absent any mention of technique, rote pieces, or rhythmic flow. The “pieces” the student is presented with to learn are musically uninteresting and purely focused on reading the finger and note movements from the page. It could serve as a simple music theory workbook and a colorful piano-themed book to flip through, but I wouldn’t recommend it for much else.
