One of the highlights of the year in our studio is the annual spring recital and cookout. Here’s a recap of our delightful evening in pictures:

All of the evening’s recital supplies ready to go – MTNA Study Awards for each student, the Psalms Project compilation books, gift cards to a local ice cream shop for the winners of our audience participation activity, Year-End Questionnaires to hand out to the parents and students, the final answer sheets for the aforementioned activity, recital programs designed to correlate with our practice incentive theme (The PUZZLEMAKER), and 20% off coupons that were gifted to me by our local music store to hand out to each student.

Somehow we managed to fit 40 people into our basement for a cozy hour of performances!
I’m so proud of each student, their poise, and their excellent performances. This is just one example. Group classes are such a helpful way to give students consistent performing opportunities throughout the year.

In addition to playing their piano solos, each of the students played their Psalms Project once and then the second time through they accompanied us while we sang. This was the first time we’ve tried this (after a couple years of requests to do so!). It wasn’t perfect, but was a great opportunity for students to have their music sung by others. And for everyone to get an idea of the melody for each song.

I split the group into three teams for our puzzle-themed activity. I kept families together and tried to keep the numbers on each team fairly balanced across the board.

In between each of the student performances, the teams were allowed to pull another sheet out of their puzzle packet and complete it. The puzzles had to do with the various patterns the students have been learning all year long as part of our practice incentive theme, The PUZZLEMAKER.

A group shot of my small studio with lots of big personalities!

After all the musical fun it was time for some food! I know the real reason everyone is excited about this event is because of the amazingly tasty burgers that my husband makes for the occasion!

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful spring evening to enjoy this wonderful time of celebration and fellowship!
