If I could transmit all the energy that was in our studio at piano camp today your screen would leap out in front of you and break into a wild song and dance! Everything felt like a whirlwind as we tried to fit in all of our activities and prepare for a presentation for the parents at the end of the session. It has been such a delightful week! Here are a few final highlights from Day Five:
For our Welcome to Piano Camp song everyone got to choose one from all the instruments we used throughout the week when it was their turn.
Several students have been asking me all week long if we were going to play the egg game this week. They were referring to the Eggspert Quiz game that I save for the last day when I ask them questions about what they’ve learned this week and they get to buzz in to try to be the first to answer the question.
We ran out of time with the younger group, but with the older one we had just enough time to play our Canyon Crossing game where the students had to get others to guess key words from the week in order to place stepping stones to help their team cross the “canyon.”
One of the things I like to include on the last day is a quick interview opportunity for the students to do a video recording sharing their favorites from the week. I’ll include these in a compilation video that I send to all the families in the next several days. In this video, Wallace shares what he liked best.
A group photo of our younger group doing their crazy faces!
A group photo of the older group – much more mature!
One of the moms sent me this shot of her daughter from my younger piano camp group saying that as soon as they got home she went to the piano and was improvising her own “Cloudburst” song based on today’s theme!
One new thing I tried this year was passing out Comment Cards at the presentation for the parents so that they could fill them out and provide feedback for me, including testimonials to use on my website. It might have generated a few more responses if I remembered to pass these out at the beginning rather than the end of the presentation, but I was grateful for a few that took a minute to write something. My favorite was from one of my 5-year old students who decided he wanted to leave a comment as well: “Likt Pano.” Translation: “I liked piano camp.” So cute!
Well, that wraps up our most exciting week of the summer around here. I’ll be working on a compilation video this weekend to hopefully have ready to share next week. Hope your summer has been wonderful so far!
