Thanks to the ArrangeMe publishing platform, another duet that my students and I have enjoyed playing for many years is now available! Mary, Did You Know? is a beautiful Christmas song that was written by Mark Lowry as series of questions to Mary as the mother of Jesus. Several of my students over the years have said it’s one of their favorite Christmas songs, so I arranged a duet at an elementary/late elementary level. It opens with the sound of a distant lone note, joined by several others one at a time to capture the effect of bells breaking into the stillness of the night with an important announcement. This sets the stage for the entrance of the melody, which is divided between the parts throughout the piece. The ending concludes with the same bells fading off into the distance.
The sheet music is available as a digital download at Sheet Music Direct and Sheet Music Plus. I’ve also added a page to the Music Matters Blog store with Piano Arrangements that I’ll be adding to as new pieces are published via ArrangeMe.
This isn’t a perfect recording, but here’s a live performance of one of my students and me playing this arrangement of Mary, Did You Know! at a Christmas event this past weekend:
