Have you ever wished you could create exactly what you needed music theory-wise on a worksheet for one of your students? Have you tried to design your own worksheets, but got hung up figuring out how to create a staff or get a piano keyboard onto your document? Well, look no further!
MuStud is an app for iPhones and iPads that enables you to intuitively create simple music theory worksheets in seconds. Yes, literally seconds! The options are still somewhat limited (I’m hoping for more future development!), but you can’t beat the simplicity. Even the most technologically-challenged person could create a great music theory worksheet for free with this handy tool! Here’s one that I created in less than a minute on my iPhone:
The free version gives you access to basic fragments that you add to the document with a quick click. Fragments include: Title, Paragraph, Staff Lines, Empty Chord Boxes, Empty Fretboard, Divider, and Keyboard Diagram. With the Pro version (at $1.99/mo or $9.99/yr) you also get access to Chord Diagrams and an Empty Grand Staff, which also allows for different key signatures. Once created, the document is automatically saved to a folder on iCloud and you can also opt to export it as a PDF to print or send digitally.
The developer has kindly allocated 10 codes for 10 Music Matters Blog readers that will allow you one week of free access to the Pro version! Just leave a comment below to be entered in the drawing for one of these codes if you’d like to try out this handy worksheet creator for yourself. Winners will be chosen using a random number generator on Friday, March 5, 2021 at noon (CST).
