Cliburn Kids with Buddy Bray – A Virtual Treat!

March 30, 2020 by natalie Leave a Comment

The Cliburn organization joined hundreds of others yesterday in moving to an online platform for a number of their upcoming events and offerings. One of their new virtual treats is an educational and interesting series called, “Cliburn Kids with Buddy Bray.” I just watched the first episode and loved it! It’s a perfect length (~8 minutes), and is a wonderful introduction to excellent classical piano music with a discussion of “Pictures You Can Hear.” A fabulous resource for piano students at home, or (when all this required isolation is over!) for piano teachers to incorporate into group classes or summer piano camps with students. There is a printable worksheet that you can access and download for free from the Cliburn Kids page of the website as well.

Be sure to check out the Cliburn bi-weekly Watch Party for virtual concerts of some of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition gold medalists from years past. And if you want to watch some of the world’s current pianists, tune in to the Cliburn Amateur Spotlight where you’ll have the opportunity to view the performance videos submitted by the 72 pianists accepted as competitors in the 2020 festival that has now been postponed to 2022.

Truly, a smorgasbord of virtual treats to bring extra delight to our days at home!
