A Few Fun Finds for Piano Teachers

March 28, 2019 by natalie 1 Comment

There are always so many resources popping up that I want to use with my students. Here are a few that I came across this week that I thought I would share with you all as well!

Practice Sheet Generator from Yellow Cat Music Education (a.k.a. Sarah Lyngra) is a customizable practice chart that you can create for students to help them learn and master new pieces measure by measure.

Eight Black Key Piano Tunes eBook from Megan Desmarais of VeryPiano.com is a handy collection of black key arrangements with accompanying audio files. You can download a free copy of the Camptown Races sheet music and audio file to get an idea of what the arrangements are like.

20 Free Compositions by Carol Matz – I’ve been dragging my feet for a long time now when it comes to digital scores, but I’m finally dabbling with a couple of iPad apps: ForScore and SuperScore. Through the end of March, if you download the SuperScore app, you can get 20 Free Digital files of Carol Matz’s compositions. I just finished downloading all of mine and look forward to continuing to explore these two apps!

MTNA Live Webinar with Veda Zuponcic on Teaching Artistry: Do These Five Things…Always and Forever tomorrow (Friday, March 29, at noon EST). The description says, “Veda Zuponcic will guide you through the use of exceptional materials for the youngest, newest pianist that present artistic gestures that become the basis for artistry at the most advanced levels. Zuponcic will share her approach to the development of good sound, with a proven curricular plan that builds technique, layer by layer, and provides the student with a broad repertoire of many styles. This patient work through the years ultimately leads the young musician to the highest level of pianism.” Check out previous MTNA Webinars at this link.

Thank you for the article. Being a music teacher is definitely very fun. I’ve never done it before, but I’m just a kindergarten teacher. But being a teacher isn’t as easy as we know. Because we also have to teach patiently to our students. clavis.nl
