“Grand.”
“Enjoyable.”
“Really neat piece.”
“I loved it!”
Those are the descriptions and exclamations that I heard from students after one week of them playing Kori Buchanan’s excellent piano compositions! Kori has been a longtime follower of Music Matters Blog and contacted me recently about reviewing some of her piano compositions. I thought it would be cool to put them right to the test by sending them home with my students to play and then let me know what they thought. They loved playing the role of “new music reviewers,” and I was grateful to have some quality pieces for them to try out!
Of the three pieces we reviewed (First Ballet, Royal Procession, and Emerald Reverie), Emerald Reverie was undeniably the favorite. It is an intermediate level piece with a beautiful lyrical style. It’s a quick learn with repetitive patterns and intuitive harmonies. The contrasting B section gives the piece some drama. A lovely selection for a recital or special music at an event.
Kori is actively adding new compositions to her collection, which you can check out at SheetMusicPlus.com – a welcome addition to any pianist’s repertoire! And…the best news – Kori is generously giving away three free copies of her compositions to three Music Matters Blog readers! Just leave a comment below to be entered in the drawing. The three winners will be selected using a random number generator at noon (CST) on Friday, February 22, 2019.

I’ve been so impressed with the independent piano teachers and their creativity. What a fabulous way to share, care and get feedback on your work. Piano teaching can be so “independent” sometimes we get isolated from our fellow teachers. Bravo and thank you again for sharing your music Kari??!

Hi, I really like piano and now looking to learn it. Is it a good idea to learn with the help of an online resource like this piano course. Please tell should I go for it? Please also share any good piano program if you know about a good one for beginners or should I take piano classes? But the thing is piano classes are very expensive.
