If you’re not familiar with FORTE check out their website! I’ve never used it, but from watching their introductory video it appears very user friendly and quite similar to Finale, a notation software I used to use.

I have used some free notation programs online (e.g. noteflight) and my kids have tried a few free trials (e.g. finale), but they all have time or space limits – we could really use a good notation software package in our house!
