2011 MTNA Conference – Sunday Morning – Alfred Showcase

March 27, 2011 by natalie Leave a Comment

Good morning from Milwaukee! The exhibitor showcases started bright and early this morning, and I’m currently sitting in an Alfred showcase.

Dennis Alexander plays samples from his Especially in Jazzy Style collection.

Next, Martha Mier took the bench and played pieces from her series, Musical Snapshots – 9 Original Solos for the Intermediate Pianist Portraying Musical Visits Around the World. Here she plays Parisian Waltz from Book 2.

Robert Vandall, assisted by Melody Bober on a few of the selections, shared from their collaborative work, Play Hymns. He especially encouraged teachers to emphasize the importance of playing with emphasis on appropriate words when students are playing these hymns.

The last presenter was Melody Bober, highlighting excerpts from her recently completed Grand Duets for Piano collection. Here she is joined by Robert Vandall to share Pelican Rag from Book 5. She invited attendees to stop by the booth in the Exhibitor Hall throughout the day to try out some of the duets with her. Sounds fun!
