Welcome to the Opera

Welcome to the Opera is another fabulous contribution to the Welcome to… series by Carolyn Sloan. Mozart’s The Magic Flute is the context for the story, and we follow three playful pups through their experience of attending and learning about this famous opera. Even for someone who’s not particularly an opera-lover (don’t hate me!), the story is engaging, and Ms. Sloan helpfully distills the plot down to its most important elements to make it accessible to young readers as well. The playful illustrations by Kaly Quarles are equally entertaining. And of course, students always love being able to press the corresponding buttons with musical excerpts along the way!
