Welcome to Jazz

Welcome to Jazz by Carolyn Sloan is part of the fabulous Welcome to… series that my students and I love! We used it as part of our Piano Expeditions piano camp, To the Grand Canyon with Grofé and His Suite, and it served as the perfect introduction to popular instruments used in Jazz music and terms like improvisation and scatting. Students love pressing the corresponding buttons to hear the musical snippets as they journey through the pages of the book with three curious cats. Colorful illustrations by Jessica Gibson make the story extra engaging and enjoyable. Highly recommended!
