It’s that time of year again – time to immerse myself in every resource I can find and break out the brainstorming journal to start planning for this year’s Piano Expeditions piano camp! I’ve been reviewing all kinds of music-related kids books for the occasion and trying to find just the right one to capture the students’ interest and correlate with our theme. The out-of-this-world theme for this summer (sorry, couldn’t resist…) is To Outer Space with Holst and The Planets.
This theme lends itself so well to many cool music composing activities, games, and artistic projects, it’s hard narrowing it down to a reasonable lesson plan for every day! Piano camp week is one of the highlights of the summer in our studio, so it’s a ton of fun to get it all put together and ready for all the energetic little people who participate. If you’re looking for a fun summer piano camp idea for your studio, check out the various programs we have available in the Piano Expeditions series. And if you have any ideas or resource suggestions related to this year’s theme, I’d love to hear them!
