We had our November group class this week, so I decided it was time to pull out our Christmas Tunes Bingo game again!
With our practice incentive theme this year (The PUZZLEMAKER), I built listening pages into the assignment books, so we’ve been using them at each of the monthly group classes this year. This proved to be the perfect accompaniment to the Christmas Tunes Bingo game because I started by playing an excerpt of a Christmas song and having the students identify the time signature. Once they correctly determined the time signature, they knew which column of their game board to look in for the excerpt of the tune. It was fun watching them intently studying their boards and trying to audiate the musical excerpts to see if they could figure out which Christmas songs were on their board. And it is a great game to use with a combination of in-person and virtual students – I just emailed a game board to my virtual student ahead of time (he’s perched on my rolling desk to the left of the above picture!) and they printed it out for him to use during the class. It has been a challenge for me to find games that work well for both in-person and virtual students simultaneously, so I’m excited that this one works so well and will probably use it for our December group class as well!
