Piano Studio Organizing Tips

September 23, 2021 by natalie 2 Comments

Sometimes it feels like a never-ending quest to improve organization in various areas of my life. It’s a challenge I enjoy, and I’m glad to be making some headway in a few elements of my piano studio (digitizing student music theory worksheets and compiling a favorite rote repertoire for piano notebook are a few recent ones). If you’ve been around the music education blogosphere much, you probably know that Amy Chaplin is one of the studio organizing gurus! She recently sent an email with an overview of some of her helpful organization-related blog posts.

I especially enjoyed reading and seeing how she organizes her printed piano music and I’m feeling motivated to go through my huge lateral file to do some rearranging and especially to print some attractive labels for each of the file folders! My only hangup is that after attending Jennifer Foxx’s inspiring webinar on Tidying Up! in the music studio, I think the best approach will be to take everything out of each drawer and go through it meticulously to clear out books that I haven’t touched in years and realistically probably won’t in the future so that I have more space for new materials that will be useful. So I just need a big chunk of time to devote to that task. Here’s hoping that I can make that happen soon…and by posting about it maybe I’ll feel a greater sense of accountability!
