A Favorite Piano Camp Activity

June 25, 2020 by natalie 6 Comments

At our Piano Expeditions piano camp last week, one of the favorite activities was singing our Welcome to Piano Camp song each morning. Here’s a little glimpse into one verse of it. Of course, the students insisted on turning off all the lights in the studio to get the full effect!

Each day we used a different instrument and the favorite by far was these light-up drumsticks! This was such a fun way to reinforce elements of steady beat, rhythm, and creative improvisation.

Hi Lori! My husband received them as a freebie at a business conference he went to. Sorry, I know that’s not helpful at all!

Couldn’t we paint drumsticks with glow in the dark paint? This looks like so much fun!

That’s a great idea, Becky! These are battery-operated so that they light up when you hit them together. I think painting some real drumsticks or even wooden dowel rods with glow-in-the-dark paint would be a really cool effect in a room with the lights off. You could even have multiple sets and do a whole rhythm show!
