2011 MTNA Conference – Senior Duet Competition: Abby Lingg and Corinne Penner

March 27, 2011 by natalie Leave a Comment

One of the things I was most excited about this year was that some friends from our area were performing in the Senior Duet Competition. I was thrilled to be able to attend and watch their performance. However, to our incredible disappointment, the room monitor started the performance before it was scheduled to begin and a handful of us were relegated to the hall outside the room where we listened through the crack in the door. Very disappointing!

Above is an audio clip including a brief portion of their performance of the Liszt Mephisto Waltz No 1. Other pieces on their program included:
Sonata in C Major, K. 521, I. Allegro by Mozart
Slavoniv Dance, Op. 46, No. 5 by Dvorak
Rhapsodie Espagnole, IV. Feria by Ravel

Two happy students and their proud teacher after a magnificent performance! We look forward to finding out the results of the competition later tonight, and the winner’s recital will be tomorrow afternoon.

[UPDATE: Abby and Corinne placed second in the senior duet competition.]
