How about "That's The Ticket!" where students earn those carnival tickets throughout the year. Then they redeem those tickets for a musical performance in the community. (We have a yearly ragtime piano show at a local theatre.) Just getting swept up in your enthusiasm! ; )

Well Joy, you know what they say about great minds, right? :-) I am very much a fan of making the progress visible and my practice incentives almost always include that element. The trick is to appeal a certain amount to the competitive nature without actually pitting the students against each other or setting the incentive up so that only one student can be the winner. That's my two cents worth, anyway!

I was thinking that a space-themed program would fit nicely into your practice incentive goals! I think it looks like fun.

I was wondering how you felt about making students' progress visible to others, e.g. on a bulletin board or otherwise. Do you think that makes it too competitive or do you think it is good for motivation and sense of pride?
