It is standard practice here to charge by the term, it would drive me crazy to chase up those fees every month! I have never had any complaints about paying for 10 lessons in one hit. Only my adult students pay per lesson, and that is due to their financial situation or I would charge them by the term too. When I finally added up what I was actually making and what I should have been making... WHOA! I changed immediately! And I agree with the win/win paragraph. The value added idea is not new to piano teachers, because we are always inventing new things, but honing our process so that it really is advantagous to both parties is crucial. I agree!
