Has anyone else been emphasizing key signatures this month? Or have you tried another theme for the month? I’d love to hear your thoughts on what has worked well, what hasn’t worked well, and any other ideas for improvement. Also, does anyone have ideas for future themes?
Also…just so you know, I scheduled my spring break for next week and I’ve decided to take the week off of blogging as well. Originally, I had hoped to attend the MTNA Conference in Atlanta, but that fell through. It’s probably a good thing, too, because I have so many things on my to-do list! I’m hoping to get a lot accomplished. We’ll see!

Love your blog on music thoughts and ideas! I am also a music teacher – having taught both in the classroom and theater class – but mostly private instruction with piano and voice. Great to find you!
great!
No, no key signatures. But I have been inspired: keys can represent different colors, such as in Dennis A’s A Touch of Color series. From another blog I was inspired by rainbow. I used to love them as a kid. So someday I want to put them together and super challenge student to plow through at least all major key sigs, along with at least one piece and do it in a rainbow theme. There are so many collections out there that have been written containing all the key signatures: Bach’s WTC, Chopin Preludes, and others including R. Vandall’s Preludes.
I know I dream way too big. It would involve rainbow colored licorice and a bag of gold chocolate coins.
Someday!
