I just received an e-mail asking me if I know of any good resources for vocal pedagogy. I’m sure there are some blogs or websites out there that would be a great resource for vocal teachers, but since I don’t teach voice I’m afraid that I’m not much help in that area. So I thought I would see if anyone else has any suggestions. Anyone know of some good resources out there for vocal teachers? (And if not…looks like this is a niche that needs to be filled by one of you voice teachers!
)

I’ve always used G. Schirmer’s Twenty-Four Italian Songs and Arias for general repertoire and language work. Some other good ones are Hal Leonard’s “The First Book of Soprano/Alto/Tenor/Baritone Solos”, “Music For Ear Training” workbook, and “Music for Sight Singing” both by Cengage Learning.
A Great private voice lesson guide is Joan Frey Boytim’s (the same person who did”The First Book of Soprano/Alto/Tenor/Baritone Solos”) “The Private Voice Studio Handbook – A Practical Guide to All Aspects of Teaching” by Hal Leonard. It has some really great resources and solfege exercises in the back. She covers everything from the business aspects to vocal exercises and Vocalises to Anthologies for Adolescent and novice singers. HIGLY recommended for anyone teaching voice.
Hope that helps!
