		<description>I introduce the concept of the Circle of 5ths  within the first several months of lessons. That&#039;s the way I teach the pentascales. We start with C and then I tell the student that in order to figure out which new scale to add each week, we&#039;re going to use what&#039;s called the Circle of Fifths. We count up to the 5th note of the previous scale to figure out which scale will be next.

I don&#039;t have a very structured plan for written theory work - that&#039;s something I&#039;m planning to improve this year! - but by the time students get to level 4 or 5 in our state Music Progressions evaluations, they have to know this information, so I try to make sure they&#039;ve done some of these kinds of worksheets and other key signature worksheets by then.</description>
