Hi Natalie,
wow, you've changed it all since I last visited!
you are always the guru to turn to with all my tech questions.
This is my BIG question right now.
I have a website through Music Teacher Helper (which I love) however, I'm not a private teacher anymore. I am teaching a piano lab at our local college and then do mainly accompanying. (I'd like to call it collaborative pianist!)
So, I'm just changing all the pages and things and trying to organize it so that others that need my services can just go directly to my site and find pricing and a little bit about me.
I can keep my website- Lisa.musicteachershelper.com or I can purchase a domain or create a blog.
What do you think would be the best for me? All that I want to do is pass out business cards with my email and website and have them go to it to look up with my prices and things. It doesn't have to be fancy. My biggest dilemma is the title of my website- it's so long and will people remember that?
I don't need people's comments so I'm not sure that a blog would be the best. It just needs to be more of an INFO website than anything else.
Sorry to run on- but I'd love to get your thoughts.
Thanks!
Lisa

Natalie,
I was so glad to have found your blog. I a 31 yr old mom of 2 and have been teaching piano for 14 years. I have a degree in Music Ed and taught in elementary school. The type of piano studio that I have is not the kind that I was taught in. I love my piano teacher dearly...she was a very flamboyant 70-something lady with a love for music and for her students...I have carried on a great part of her legacy in the fact that I love my students, but the concept of Group Class has been a trial and error thing. I am looking forward to reading through your blog and getting ideas for group class. This year I have 22 students (the largest I have allowed my studio to get EVER). My 1st group class is next week. I am excited and a bit anxious to see how the class size is going to affect our activities. Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us about your journey. It is especially refreshing to see that you are a Christian and are giving glory to God for your gifts.

Hi Natalie,

I understand what you mean about feeling "burned out". Sometimes we just have to shake things up a bit to keep music learning exciting. I do this periodically when I can tell that my students are getting burned out or when I see boredom setting in within myself. I get creative and think of ways to make it interesting and exciting again. Thanks for sharing your story. Just know that you are not alone in your sentiments. Keep up the terrific teaching and wonderful website! :)

Hey,
THanks so much for sharing the scale fingerings.

Im just starting out. Im not interested in reading music at all. Im just interested in composing electronic music and scales are as important as any other form of music.

You can learn scales anywhere however no one puts up the fingerings. Last thing I want is to get into bad habits.

Thanks so much.

I am so inspired by you and all the things you share with us. I just purchased your two 'Piano Camp' Lesson Plans and I am implementing them immediately. In addition, I want to create a computer lab set-up similar to yours. Would you mind sharing how you create your 'multi-page computer lab assignment packet'? It sounds so complex and, starting from absolutely nothing, I'm not even sure where to start. Thanks again for your heart!

This post made me smile as I read about your lightbulb moment with that enthusiastic teacher. Why? Because YOU were the enthusiastic teacher who turned the minds of my husband and me in totally new channels with our students! The studio is growing and our students are learning and becoming more excited about music. Thank you for taking the time to talk with us at that wedding last summer. : )

Hello,

I'm a musician, private teacher and software developer and appreciate the music education community.

I want to let you know about some iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad apps for trumpet/french horn/trombone players. I believe these apps can help with finger and slide positions as well as helping the student learn scales and chords. They are only meant to supplement practice and are NOT a SUBSTITUTE for actual practice. I envision it helping the brass playing student when the instrument is not available or when waiting in line for the bus, etc. It's actually fun as the student is scored for accuracy and speed and can share his results with others.

The apps and video tutorials are available on the following sites:

http://www.contactplus.com/trumpetpro
http://www.contactplus.com/trombonepro
http://www.contactplus.com/frenchhornpro

Regards,

I've recently been checking out your website and I think you've got some really quality stuff on there, I own a similiar music website and was wondering if you would like to be involved in a series of blogroll exchanges I am conducting this summer. By placing each other on our blogroll lists we will boost traffic to our sites, it only takes a fews seconds. Please contact me if you are interested.

Kind regards

Natalie,

WOW! what an amazing story of how God has used you to glorify him with your life! He has made me realize through your story that it doesn't matter what you do but how you do it that matters. Truly an inspiration.
